Ready for the world’s only tandem Mountain Swoop? Experience the ultimate rush with Skydive Interlaken!

What is a mountain swoop?

Mountain Swooping is a high-performance form of technical flying. The parachute is intentionally flown close to mountainous terrain and landmarks, maximizing the thrill by ‘swooping’ along ridgelines and mountain faces. This creates a visually dramatic and adrenaline-pumping experience. This is very similar to paragliding, except that the flight speed and descent rate are higher. The highlight of this type of skydiving comes not from the freefall but from the parachute flight as you pass over breathtaking scenery close to the terrain.

Mountain Swoop the Eiger North Face

Experience a world-first and only tandem mountain swoop anywhere in the world, right here with Skydive Interlaken. Experience a high-altitude ‘HAHO’ skydive above the summit of the Eiger, and an extended parachute flight along the Eiger’s East Ridge. The knife-edge East Ridge of the Eiger and its formidable North Face are legendary amongst the climbing and mountaineering community.

The nearly vertical wall of the North Face towers approximately 1,800m (5,900 feet) from the valley floor to the summit. It is dark and imposing, featuring sheer rock faces interspersed with ice fields, couloirs, and narrow ledges. Its shadowy appearance and immense scale make it an intimidating sight.
First climbed in 1938, it has since become a rite of passage for elite climbers. Its difficulty lies in technical rock climbing, changing weather, and falling rock and ice exposure.

The East Ridge, also known as the Mittellegi Ridge, offers a stunning and exposed climbing route to the summit of the Eiger. It is considered one of the most beautiful ridge routes in the Alps. The ridge is sharp and jagged, often covered in snow and ice, creating a dramatic contrast with the surrounding sky and lush valleys far below. The Mittellegi Hut, perched atop the ridge, acts as a base for mountaineers during their ascent. The ridge offers breathtaking views of the mountains, glaciers, and valleys.

  • How It Works

    The Skydive

Your adventure begins with a 15-minute scenic helicopter flight, taking you from Interlaken up through the lush Lütschental valley to the idyllic alpine village of Grindelwald. During the flight, you will pass the famous Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe, with the Sphinx Observatory and the starting point of Europe’s longest glacier, the Aletsch Glacier. From there, fly before the famous Eiger-Mönch-Jungfrau panorama as you approach Grindelwald and the imposing Eiger. The helicopter climbs steadily until you reach an altitude of 16,500 ft / 5,000m. Here we are 3000 ft/1000m above the summit of the Eiger, unique. Look around you and see the Alps from a perspective you’ve never seen before.

Standing outside the helicopter, the pure scale of the Alps becomes evident – endless mountaintops glisten far below you. With your experienced instructor, take the leap and experience an exciting short freefall with probably the most spectacular view of a skydive you can imagine. Your instructor will deploy your parachute as you approach the Eiger summit, initiating the highlight of this adventure.

Under the parachute, you will swoop and soar over the sharp Mittellegi Ridge, passing over the precariously balanced Mittellegihütte, plunging ravines and sharp. On one side, the glistening ice of Ischmeer stretches away below you, this untouched glacier hiding behind the Eiger. On the other side, the picturesque village of Grindelwald spreads across the valley. Enjoy an exhilarating 15-minute “paraglide” flight along this knife-edge ridge before gliding in the shadow of the North Face to a safe landing at the bottom of the valley.

We fly an incredible 3000 vertical meters (over 9000ft) along the entire Eiger from the summit to Grindelwald – absolutely incredible and unique! This is a world first, we from the team are convinced that it is one of the most beautiful and spectacular things we have ever experienced and would love to share it with you.

After landing, your videos and photos will be processed and sent via email, and our convenient drop-off service and friendly team will transport you back to your desired location in Interlaken, offering a smooth return journey.

Thanks to the helicopter’s panoramic windows and its ability to hover, every skydive package guarantees an incomparable flight before the exciting skydive.

You will receive your video and/or photo package by email on the same day. Outside Videos are not available for this jump.

Are you ready for the thrill of a lifetime?
